2013 – 2014 Elections Update

With District Convention (DCON) being held one month earlier in March 2013, there are a few changes to keep in mind. The following updates are for all officers, members, and advisors. Please share this information with everyone so they are aware of the early elections and the potential candidates will be prepared!

Election Dates:
Club elections would traditionally be held between January and March, but now they should be held in December or January. This will allow elected officers to meet the on-time registration deadline to attend convention and the workshops included that will help them with their term.Division Conclaves to elect the next Lt. Governor would traditionally be in January or February, but this also will be moved up to December or January.

Terms:
Usually, District Convention would mark the beginning and end of a term, but according to 141 Club Officers, the official dates of a term should be May 1 to April 30. For the upcoming year, current officers will remain in office until the given date but the elected officers will take over their duties at the end of Convention. This period of time from convention to May 1 will act as a final stage of the transition between the terms where current officers may still be training the elects.

The District Board – Executives, Lt. Governors, and Appointed Board Members – will still be retiring at Convention and the 2013-2014 Executives and Lt. Governors will be installed.

Candidate Training Conference Dates:
The Lt. Governor Candidate Training Conference (CTC) will be held on December 1, 2012 instead of in January. This event will take place at various locations across the District. The District Officer Candidate Training Conference (DO CTC) will be held on January 12, 2013, instead of in February and will take place in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Please take the time to talk to your board members, Kiwanis Advisor, and Faculty Advisor about this, especially if you have already set election dates which do not meet these changes.
